What is your approach to treating thyroid patients?
My approach to thyroid patients is comprehensive. While most patients will do well on Armour thyroid, some will require specialized regimens or compounded hormones. Patient symptoms and physical exam are of primary importance. I will not hold you "hostage" to your laboratory results if they don't fit your clinical picture.

Additional issues that need to be addressed include adrenal status, iodine status, and vitamin D and B12 status. Also, since 1 out of 20 patients with autoimmune thyroid disease also have celiac disease, we often screen for gluten sensitivity. Perimenopausal hormone issues in women can also affect thyroid function.

Do you prescribe bioidentical hormone replacement for men as well as women?
Yes. "Andropause", or testosterone deficiency in men, is a serious problem which contributes to increased death rates from diabetes and heart disease. As a family physician, I am trained to treat men, women, and children for all manner of illnesses.

What should I bring with me to my appointment?
Please bring any prior lab results or pertinent medical records that you may have. Also bring a list of any medications and/or supplements that you are taking.
